How to choose

Automatic boxes suit most adult cats, but give kittens and very small cats a plain manual box until they are bigger — the moving parts and entry height matter. Check the entry size if you have a large cat, and remember every automatic box still needs an occasional full clean-out. Introduce it slowly: leave it switched off next to the old box for a few days so your cat accepts it before the motor starts running.
